BMI Calculator Tool

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. It is widely used in the Health & Fitness industry to monitor body fat levels and progress, however it does have its limitations. For example, a person with muscular body composition with their abdominal muscles plainly in view and a low body fat may weigh heavier than average as muscle weighs heavier than fat as it is more densely packed. This may indicate they are overweight on the BMI scale! The BMI should be used on an individual basis - fitness.uk.net recommend it is used in conjunction with body fat testing using callipers for a clearer picture of your body composition.

The Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator Tool uses your height in centimetres (CM) and your weight in Kilograms (KG) to determine what your BMI index is. Once you have calculated your BMI see the chart below to work out where you appear on the BMI Chart. Remember the BMI index is a general chart.

Quick Conversions to help you work out your weight and height:

1 stone = 6.5kg approx (so if you weight 9st thats 58kg approx)

1ft = 30cm approx (so if you are 6ft tall that would be 180cm approx)

1 inch = 2.5cm approx (so if you are 5 ft 7inches tall that would be 168cm approx)

10 pounds = 4.5kg approx (so if you weight 200 pounds that would be 90kg approx)
